    If well maintained, a "cheap" generator can run about as long as a cheap lawnmower. Do you mean run continuously or frequently for jobsite service? Or sitting in the shed till hurricane season? Even the cheap ones are decent if you change the oil regularly and use a good grade of gasoline. Occasionally run some high-grade gasoline through the system. If it sits for any length of time add a fuel stabilizing additive.
