  • You did all that, and you were given rights. Every child feeds on its parents and affects the health of its parents from conception onward. I have a 24 year old who still affects me. I still affect my father and he is in his 80s.
  • First of all, I think morally a fetus is a living human. Second, I think, unless the host was raped, the fetus is there because she willingly took part in the act that created the fetus. She needs to take responsibility for her actions. I think the greatest crisis facing us is a responsibility crisis. We all seem to want to blame someone or something for our problems.
  • ooooooo. The anti-abortion weenies are gonna' roast you.
  • Because "fetus" is simply a medical term that describes a human being at a certain stage of life. Granted, a fetus isn't fully developed, but neither are children and teenagers. Human beings aren't fully developed until they are around 21 years old (when the brain becomes fully developed). Unfortunately, there are many people born with deformities or medical conditions that will never allow them to fully develop. The fact that he/she gets food from the mother is hardly any argument to justify murdering this small, innocent human being. Babies cannot feed themselves either. My child is almost 4 and he cannot survive without someone providing food, shelter, clothing, etc. The mother is never unwilling unless she was raped (as someone else already pointed out). When people have sex, they know there is a strong possibility of getting pregnant. Just because they do not like the result of their actions does not mean they have the right to murder another person.
  • So if God aborts a fetus through a miscarriage, does that mean we can sue God?
  • The same reason an impoverished and sick elderly person should be bestowed equal human rights.   My right to swing my arm ends at your nose.
  • because a fetus is human. thats how we existed...no matter how you call it, a fetus or a zygot, blood or name it whatever you want, it will go back to the same main old creature, a human. think of it like this, you were once a fetus before, right..well, every human who existed gone to that stage. its just a matter of time that makes a difference...and about abortion, ive got saying for that..dont play with the fire if you could not stand the heat..be responsible..
  • By that logic, if a woman 'feeds off' of her ex-husband's paycheck, and affects his health with her nagging complaints, why SHOULD she have full human rights?
  • because it comes from humans, has human DNA and tissues, and most importantly... it is a human. Why is a fetus different from a newborn? Why do you thinks human rights are something YOU can bestow? Why are you so concerned about a fetus' will, considering you don't think they should have rights. . Why should you have the right to live? +5
  • So, where does this end? If a woman falls down the stairs and miscarries has she committed murder? If a collection of cells, unable to exist without a host, is a human being with human rights does a tumor also have rights?
  • This sounds a lot like age discrimination. Did a fetus hurt your feelings?
  • Because, despite the inconvenience, a human's life is more important. The right to live is more supersedes the right to live without a baby in you, in my opinion.
  • Just because it's unwillingly placed does not take away from its right to life. Did it choose to do that? No. It's as much in a pickle as the person. "we all agree" is an opinion, i might not see people with a right to life that you would.
  • Simple. Life begins at conception. From the moment that God instills life into a human being it is a human being. Fetus is simply a term developed by atheists to try and rationalize the murder of unborn human beings. In the vast majority of cases the legalized murder of a human through abortion is simply a convenient way to get around using birth control, or hiding a mistake or accident and this is both morally and ethically wrong. Everything in life has consequences. People today need to learn that and accept that fact. In those extremely rare cases where pregnancy results from rape or incest then I still believe that the best option is to carry the child to term and place it up for adoption. However, I would also agree that those cases should be handled on a case by case basis and the ultimate decision should be one that made between the mother and God. Prior to any abortion being performed in these cases, rape or incest must be proven. The mother, and maybe even her entire family, should be counseled on all of her options and the consequences of all those options. If after rape/incest has been proven, and she has been thoroughly and objectively counseled on all her options if she still believes that abortion is the right decision between her and God, then I would say she has that right. In the also extremely rare case where the life/future of the mother is in danger. Then I believe that ending the life of the pre-born child is not only acceptable but Biblical. I believe that God would not consider it murder to kill the child to save the mother, but in this case it must be a choice between the life of the mother vs. the life of the child. Abortion is not a method of birth control.
  • If the fetus is adversely affecting the health or threatening the life of the mother, I believe that any rights it may have are secondary to the mother's life or health. We don't require parents to donate bone marrow or organs to living children; we recognize their right to bodily integrity. In my opinion, the same holds true for a pregnant woman. I don't care how the fetus got in there -- rape or otherwise.
