Yes. America has chosen to hamstring itself with the military's gay phobia.

it will happen every where as people keep saying we have to have change and they will continue to change ,think how much has changed in 10 or 20 years .and we are told we progress to try and be better and more understanding of peoples needs PRIME MINISTER KEVIN RUDD AUSTRALIA.

Yes. It is a moronic, half-policy that pretends to protect the rights of gay people to serve in the military, but actually further stigmatizes them. It has achieved nothing but kicking the can another 16 years down the road. Clinton said he was going to allow gay people to serve in the military, but the congressional support wasn't there. Needing something passed he went for this turd that said "we are still fundamentally against homosexuality, don't get me wrong, so just don't talk about being gay, act gay, posses pictures of your same-sex spouse, or do anything that arouses our suspicion, or we still get to kick your gay-ass to the curb." Can we please end the idiocy?

Yes, it's an assinine policy. No one should have to live a lie to serve in the military, nor should they be kicked out because of who they are. While I never served in the military, I'm a lesbian and I've known quite a few gays/lesbians who've served in the military and had to go to great lengths to hide their orientation.

Sure, if he wants to see a lot of "blanket parties" and other violence against gays. Sex doesn't belong in the workplace, whether gay or straight. The military is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week workplace with more stress and danger than any other workplace. What the president needs to do is extend it to heterosexual soldiers as well. Sex in the workplace only causes distraction, confusion, anger and hurt feelings. In the military in particular, we don't need people distracted from their jobs by sexual relationships.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, WTF, I think that Don't Ask, Don't Tell', is about the stupidest crap I have ever heard, The government wants to play lets pretend. They dont mind them putting their ass on the line for their country, but wants to shame them for who they love.

Yea I don't understand the point in not letting a gay, lesbian, or bisexual person in the first place, if they want to serve then why not let them? And even if that wasn't there it's not like gay people attack people they are attracted to
-
Yes, and I also believe women should have combat roles. This idea is no more bullshit than segregated units. It's bigotry wrapped up in a lie. When bullets are flying you could give a F*** less about how nice the person next to you's ass is.

I support its repeal. I believe in equality as a general, underlying principle of the USA. But Obama should not and can not legally repeal it. That job Constitutionally belongs only to Congress. I want no more of the Bush imperial presidency, making law through signing statements. If Congress will get him the legislation repealing it, I fully support his signing it.

The whole concept of this policy is idiotic beyond all belief. I don't understand why someone would even give a shit about who someone chooses to have relationship with.

I don't have a personal stake in this debate, but consider what makes the military different from other kinds of life. You put one person in charge of the lives of others, both day and night. You hand him or her a gun, and you instruct 18 and 19 year olds that they must follow his/her orders or you will be arrested. This makes it different from most other situations. If you add to that mix a sexual agenda, whether heterosexual or homosexual, it's a recipe for trouble. If you put a man with a hetero sexual agenda and a gun in charge of 18 year old women, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to anticipate what happens next. 4 out of 10 women soldiers in a veterans hospital reported being sexually assaulted in the military: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/31/military.sexabuse/ The same concern exists for someone with a homosexual agenda. http://www.helium.com/items/190576-homosexual-rape-of-four-fellow-servicemen Unless procedures are dramatically revised to avoid and prevent such attacks, people with sexual agendas should not be given guns and supervisory roles over young people.

Yes. Its an unfair policy.
