  • Resources - You have it, I don't. Greed - I want it. Laziness - I am unwilling to work out a way to live without it, and shouldn't have to. Ego - I am better than you, so I deserve it more.
  • The very real possibility that with all of the communication available we might one day understand one another.
  • Contact. Travel in those days was so difficult that reasons for conflict did not arise. As the technology of transport improved, the opportunity for empires arose, and they came into conflict.
  • Ignorance is the definitely the greatest. The great majority of people don't accept their own and then push it on others. This is where a lot of the conflict comes in. What makes any person better than another? A white supremecist thinks they're better (for some strange reason) than black people. Is there any logical reason for this? Of course not. . But ignorance applies to every aspect of life. Why do we go to war? Because people, in general, aren't intelligent enough to realize there are fair ways to equitably distribute resources. The worst thing about ignorance is it's impossible to put out. It compounds itself. I'm not trying to push any religious buttons, but at the same time it's a perfect example. What proof is there that any religion is right? None. So why is it that the vast majority of human beings believe in one god or another? The worst part is they all require this thing called faith which is then extended to every aspect of that person's life. If you trust your priest, then what reason do you have to doubt anything he says? If you trust your parents and assume they do know better than you, then what reason do you have to doubt them when they tell you there's a santa claus? . Bottom line is that ignorance will always be here and will always cause problems. The only possible solution I can see is for everyone to understand and truly accept their own ignorance as well as everyone else's. Once that happens, we can really start trying to find the truth and the most intelligent ways to improve society. . But that's just me.
