  • In many circles that would be considered rude and inappropriate. If invited out like that I would assume that you would pick up the check.
  • A lot of people will say no, but I do not think so. In my opinion, send out the invite and simply say something like... "I would like you to come out for my birthday on ... I have hired a limo and we will eat at xxx. Unfortunately I do not currently have the funds to pay for dinner, but the limo is covered. Hope to see you there" That way you are honest and polite at the same time.
  • Well, then, it's not much of a party, is it? It fine (though a little rude) as long as you make it VERY clear that you are only hosting the party, not paying for anyone's meal. This can be done by sending the invitees a link to the restaurant's menu and prices. I hope that you are at least providing a cake or similar for dessert.
  • Most people would probably say no, but if you don't have the money then you don't have the money. If they are your real friends I doubt they would look down on you for being honest.+3
  • I have been to parties like that before. There is nothing wrong with it as long as the guests know before hand.
