  • I think the main pros and cons are two sides of the same coin, so to speak. The biggest pro is that they are there to help out and generally be involved in the child's life, but the cons are that they may take over, be around too much, offer unwanted advice etc. I suppose the balance of these things depends on your relationship with your family. My husband and i are expecting our first child but live thousands of miles from my parents, and I can't wait to get back to be closer to them.
  • Well I think it would be helpful to raise them if you lived near them... Seriously, it always helps to have a safety net, which family can provide. If one of your kids gets sick, a relative might be able to watch them for the day (especially for something like chicken pox or pink eye, when most daycare centers won't). I think it is good for kids to have more family members to interact with also.
  • The pros are depending on the family, stability, help with the kids, a place to go for advice, a place for the kids to have someone to talk to when they are upset with you or have a question they don't feel comfortable talking to you about. Company. The cons again it depends. Mine were disagreements though only occasionally, disagreements on how to raise or deal with certain situations regarding the children. These are just some of mine I used to live relatively close to my in laws but I had a great relationship with them.
