  • Of course, as we all are, man or woman, young or old Edit: woops, misread I would say whichever had more impact in his life. Who was there more etc.
  • I am more affected by the relationship with my father when I first think about it. My mother seldom showed affection or emotion, then again, she was my step mother. She was never cruel, but seldom affectionate (that I recall) especially when her natural born children entered the picture. Seeing that my natural birth mother was not in the picture that forced me into a stronger relationship with my father. So I am directly more affected by my relationship with my father, but indirectly affected by my relationship with my birth mother (or lack of one).
  • I would have to say that the affect is equal in depth. Even when one or the other is absent, we tend to view our relationships, mostly, as a result of our relation (or the lack thereof)we had or have with our parents. We learn what a man is, or should be from our father figures, and what a woman is, or should be from our mothers.
  • Fathers show boys how to be a man, a husband, a provider a father, an uncle, a brother, etc. All things that he will or may become. Mothers have a profound impact, but can only teach him how to be those things; she can't demonstrate it, as much as she'd like to.
