  • Those who have resources at their disposal to help themselves, yes. Shelters and non-profits are there in some areas to help, many choose not to use them.
  • No. Alot of homeless people are victims of diseases, mental illness and other things that caused them to be out on the streets. They are not the stereotypical drunks and panhandlers some people assume they are. I think if their stories were known a majority of them should be helped and not blamed for circumstances that were often not caused by anything they actually did, such as being a drug addict or an alcoholic.
  • I'm sure there are a few who are to blame for their circumstances, but I believe many of them are mentally ill, or have just fallen on hard times. I don't wish it on anyone, though, no matter what their circumstances.
  • Blame the victims of global corporate finances, job out sourcing, and the demise of social programs? Sure, why not blame the victims?
  • Blame isn't in the equation. What is is one simple question, "Can one get up on their own if properly motivated?" and, if not, "What can be done on our part to assist them toward that end?" Homelesness is a human condition, and, like most human conditions, their reasons for being that way are as unique to the individual as why one combs his hair a certain way. Which one could you "blame"?
  • Some people are one paycheck away from being on the street..they work hard to raise their families and some unforseen tragedy happens to them for instance job layoffs, illness, hikes in the water, electric and gasoline prices which they cant afford because their paycheck is already spread thin with essentials like food, medication, school clothes etc. The people on welfare should be the ones...oh never mind I dont want to open that can of worms.
  • I MEAN NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE SO PLEASE READ CAREFULLY... Is every overweight individual a grotesquely fat pig who can't control their eating, or should each case be looked at individually? Is every frail & thin person a disgusting anorexic or bulimic just pining away to die! no, No, NO!!!!!!! It's the same answer to both, and to anything. Each individual is exactly that, an individual. Sometimes people are homeless just because life craps on them and they don't have family/friend support to give them the crutch until they are back on smooth sailing. Sometimes there is a mental condition that prevents them from having a better life... Generalizing is ignorant. WAKE UP AMERICA P.S. I was homeless once...
