I think everyone goes through that stange when they are a teen. That's when you get your first love and your first loss.
Yes when I was 14... I was pretty good at it too, my English teacher got one of my poems published for me =)
I'm in a phase where i love writing poetry right now!
I write songs, does that count? Here's the latest I've been fiddling with. Feel free to laugh, it's just someting to do to kill some time. Starting chord is Cm.
Staring at a TV that’s off
The cigarette triggers a cough
Sippin’ cheap 80 proof gin
To forget why I’m needing them
(chorus)
Sitting here feeling as low
As the deepest root that is below
The oak tree that grows in the ground
Next to where she could be found
That casts a shadow on the stone
That reminds me she’ll never come home

The pain's not the same
And the haunting's remain
While the memory hurts
The cure is far worst
But as every long second ticks by
My eyes refuse to cry
Because even a million tears from them
Won't bring her home again
