Either sit in the corner or in the hall, go to the principal's office and have him or her yell at you for a bit, or write lines after school. I went to a few different schools though, but it was mostly all the same, at least from grade one to four. I never actually got in trouble much though, if anyone can believe that.

When I was in first grade, the teacher would either A) Give you a verbal warning B) Give you a negative "daily report" that was sent home to parents and signed or C) Send you to the principals office where 1 of 2 things happened 1) You got spanked with a wicked big paddle three times or 2) Suspension / expulsion. It wasn't like it is today, where the teachers send anyone and everyone to the office for name-calling or farting or whatever, wherein they call the parents. If you got sent to the principal, you were in it deep. Ah, the good old days.

1st - 3rd I had detention 3+ times a week and got swatts from the principal atleast half a dozen times.

i had to stay inside at recess ... fifteen minutes. it was in the mid fifties. recess was prime time.
