1- I don't understand why a disaster situation makes you feel the need for God, if you didn't need God when things were going good. Sounds kind of hypocritical to me. 2- My biblical Christian friend says God is in charge of things like global warming and gamma ray burst at 300,00 0 per year so they are not disasters, but gifts. 3- I don't believe in god, but if I did why would I need one that gave me such lovely 'gifts'.

The number of looming disasters is directly related to the number of policies the politicians want to pass.

I don't see any logical connection between natural and man made disasters and a "need" for "God". Sounds more like a need for a magical solution to all the worlds problems. Pretty childish thinking, if you ask me.
