Yes, people in abusive relationships tend to benefit by leaving them, even when the abusive relationship is within the confines of marriage. Also I hear that women/mothers in countries with greater social welfare systems than the US can stand to benefit from divorce if the marriage is undesirable. But that's just, you know, what I hear.
