  • Yes, they can. Being neutered does not mean cutting off the dog's penis, just removing his testicals. As such, most dogs lose interest, but some, especially those which matured sexually before being neutered, may continue the behavior.
  • Yes but they just can't get the female pregnant.
  • Would performing a vasectomy on dogs, be more expensive than purging the testicles ? Dogs are omnipresent. If you consider them as a classification of animals based on attitude, then we have humans who have sex in pervert ways, humans who have sex with dogs and so on.....You can also find dog humans :) and human dogs... testicles or not they have sex... My two balls...I mean bits
  • I think they can, but they don't get the urge much.
  • Yes they can, if you where a guy and 'had the snip' could you still have sex ? Yes, exactly the same thing.
  • Yes, they can, but they usually do not, because when they get "fixed" they lose their desire to mate, and their instinct to have any interest in a bitch in heat.
  • Yes they can. They're just shooting blanks so to speak. I had a neutered Chesapeake Bay Retriever who never lost the urge.
  • Do not know about dogs. But my tomcat trys to all the time. Vet said that males can do the deed with out worry about babies coming out of the action.
  • Yes they can, but they just don't have the desire anymore!
  • grrr ... Please see my comments elsewhere in this asinine column. As for me I plan to drink a pint of Pinoqachole - I have a heavy date with a labrador (maybe she is a German Shepherd) tonight! At least I think it's a 'she' - I didn't look too closely. GAD! That would be a bitch if it was a 'he' ... Ummnn ..no wait- Buffy - http://toomuch.plonque.com Oh yeah- MY dog is named 'Chunks'. Have you heard that story? ;-) but I digress....
  • yes, and the only reason i know this is because i have a female who was in heat, and my male had been fixed for 2yrs, and i caught them actually having sex. i had to look to be sure, because i thought that was the last thing i had to worry about. (and by the way they got stuck. i was told they always get stuck...)at least she couldnt get pregnant, because he only has a small patch of fur where his equipment used to be...what a shock to me, it was like 2 teenagers getting caught! kinda funny now...their relationship has changed too, its strange how animals sometimes mimic human behavior, or is it the other way around?
  • As you've gathered YES they can. However, most trainers and behaviorists agree that predominately...sex play between dogs is frequently (most likely) a show of dominance...WHO'S ON TOP. It matters to THEM. I'll risk loosing brownie points with the really tight behaviorists by saying that I've seen dogs, spayed, neutered, or one altered and the other not..engage is what appeared CLEARLY to me to be SEX PLAY...a rousing game of slap and tickle! They did not appear to be mounting to prove WHO is the "top dog" Sometimes they were successful in hooking up with no resulting puppies since one or both was no longer capable of reproducing. But they did appear to be having a truly great romp.
  • if you had your balls cut off would you stop having sex?
  • Yesterday our neutered male dog was "stuck" to our unaltered female in heat. Should we expect a litter of puppies?
  • I think bob barker should be fixed
  • Yes, but a lot more safely!
  • 1 Neutered males can be tempted by a hussy. No puppies, but a chance of infection. keep females in season away from all males. 2 Fixed females never come in season and will never tolerate a male.
  • My dog is 2 1/2 years old. He has been fixed since he was 6 months old. My female came into heat and all of a sudden they are hooked up. Now I have to keep my female locked up!
