Dismiss everyone else, then have that student stay until ALL the lockers are checked. Adolescents need to learn that their behavior has consequences.

Tell him that he has no right to disrespect you, and make him run laps and do push ups as punishment. My HS principal used that method, and it was surprisingly effective.

De-ten-tion!

I will go to his locker, put back some "stuff" in it and say "I don't think it's cleaned out.. You better finish your job. And next time make sure you did the job or don't use such words to confirm you did it." and continue with checking the other lockers. And then he will probably call me with some nasty words not in my presence of course but I don't care ;)

I would stop everything, get everyone's attention and ask him to please repeat what he just said. If he won't, then make him drop and do push ups for how ever long it takes for you to finish checking all the other lockers. ( Take your time) Then give him a warning that if he ever speaks to you in such a way again it will be taken to a higher level of punishment IE: the principal or detention or what ever you feel is the next step. If he does repeat it, take it to the highest level of punishment allowed by the school, and don't give him a second chance.

Wow times have changed, when I was in school everyone feared the gym teacher because the gym teacher was a crazed combat veteran that love to hurl medicine balls at kids that eyeballed him wrong
