  • In my world things need to be exact. Catering needs to be run with almost military precision. Everyone has a job and everyone knows every job. • Legally, the employer sets the policies and standards of the workplace, and is required to meet fair labor practices in hiring and promoting personnel. The employee cannot alter policy and procedures on a whim and expect to be retained and compensated, when he/she has failed to meet the job requirements for which they were hired. (imho) +5 :-)

  • I think both are true. The Employer certainly has the right to set job parameters, since he or she is paying the salary. However, the Employee has the right to negotiate those parameters. If it's not too disruptive, sometimes it's in the Employer's best interest to let an employee be creative. If an employee is happy, he or she is more likely to stay. Retraining a new person after the employee left would be much more expensive and frustrating.
  • The man with the "Gold" set the rules.
