General Douglas MacArthur was "dressed down" by his Commander In Chief, President Harry S. Truman.
It did not help MacArthur's cause by failing (at Wake Island, if I remember correctly) to show up ahead of the President and be there to greet him.
Truman didn't think much of MacArthur's ratty old hat, either. Having served in World War I, "Captain Harry" was something of a spit and polish man, but well respected by his men.
