Not as scary as the way Bush # 2 was trampling our rights and freedoms and mistaking the First Amendment as so much toilet paper...
-
What country are we talking about?
-
i have realised that even though in the constitution we are given rights, ive seen that the government has given laws to narrow it down to where we actually have very few and its up to THEM how to interpret the laws that affect US. with obama wanting to work on gun laws, doesnt that go against the second amendment of the right to bear arms? honestly i believe that someday america will no longer be a "free" country. yes we have more rights than some countries, but eventually our rights are going to be whittled down until we have strict guide lines to follow to keep our "freedom"..its like school rules, theres alot saying you can do this but not this and hidden somewhere among that is a rule that says, you must do everything staff ( metaphoricallly, meaning the government)tell you to or its against the law as long as its within reason, but whats within reason on our eyes is different than in theirs.

What rights have we lost so far? You can certainly make a case that some rights are under consideration for restriction, but what rights have you personally lost since President Obama took office? . btw, I got rid of your DR for you.
-
You can always leave.
-
This scares me sometimes...
-
No one seemed to mind when Shrub did it. Humm what rights specifically are you talking about? Guns? Well, the SCOTUS affirmed the right to bear arms when it struck down the DC heavily restrictive gun laws (federal law anyway a similar case on state laws will be heard this term) and you can now legally carry in federal parks (something you couldn't do under Bush)Hells bells people are even showing up at town hall meetings with guns. Contrast this to the couple who were arrested for anti-Bush t-shirts. I could go on but I have a feeling what I say will fall on deaf ears.
-
If by "socialist government" you mean taking away the right of insurance companies to kill me, then I am all for it.
-
You listen to Faux News way too much!
-
I fear it is becoming more and more a police state. And for those of you who think Bush was bad I guess you never heard of J. Edgar Hoover huh?
-
I personally have NOT lost any of my rights under any president .... I'd like you to specifically name the rights that you have actually LOST ... The right to drink and drive .. ? The right to bear arms , NOPE ..we can still purchase weapons and ammo ... Awaiting your response ...

I worry that too many people don't realize the government is so big, it's out of control. Everyone looks at Obama and his push for big government but I see it on the local and state level just as badly. People don't pay attention to their rights and liberties.
-
It is still a democratic republic. What ever happens, happens because the voters want it that way. So the sad truth is, the government may be ignoring your rights, and diminishing your freedom, but only because a majority of voters do not cherish them.

Just several months? You seem to have forgotten about the last several YEARS. The patriot act came about because of the Republicans dude. Of which it was used to justify harassment by the FBI onto folks like me. It may seem like a tilt to the left, but such is only natural after the last 8 years tilting towards the Fascistic Union under Bu$h.
-
Bush used the Bill of Rights as Toilet Tissue for 8 years, and NOW you're worried?
-
Yeah, over the past several months just become yourself. It's always been like that and that's the way it odds are will stay

Believe me, in the hood, none of us are surprised. It's actually kind of funny to see everyone in the middle class and upper middle class start to realize everything we were saying 20 years ago is all true. They used to call us conspiracy theorists. They used to say rap groups like Public Enemy were just being obnoxious rappers when they made songs like "Fight the Power". When I read "Behold a Pale Horse", the whole structure began to make sense to me. It's not that the powers that be are evil, they just follow the strategies of world domination, like every power structure does. America is no different from any other empire that has attempted to rule the World.

I think we'll be broke before we are a socialist government, and then we'll be begging for someone to pick up our sorry butt and fix the damage.
-
Obama is pushing for a socialist society though he would never say that, every time there is a new social program put in place we as Americans lose a little more freedom,,,it's a cancer,,you have every right to be frightened right now but that's why the term of President is only 4 years to prevent somebody like BHO from doing too much damage, believe me when I say, this is his last term is he lasts that long.

I've seen much anger toward the Bush administration in the answers, and I have to agree with that anger. I may have been more comfortable with Bush in his attitude toward the 2nd Amendment. Unlike Obama, Bush never was quoted as saying disparaging things about gun owners, the religious and those in rural areas, implying that we suffer from mass psychosis. Let's face it however, Bush' practical contempt for the Constitution, as a whole, was played out for us time and again. Everyone with realistic expectations had to realize that Bush' policies and willful shortcomings would pave the way for someone even worse. Bush set the table for Obama, and with his(Obama's) Marxist appetite for gobbling up personal freedoms, he's going to try the entire menu if he gets the chance. The Democrat's effort to grant amnesty to the illegals is nothing more than a bald faced effort to ensure that Democrats never lose their grip on power...not for the benefit of you and me-far from it. It's for the benefit of themselves.

Judging by the avatar, I'd say this isn't really a question you'd be willing to hear the answers to, unless they agreed with your own conclusion. I have yet to meet one Tea Bagger who can tell me even one single "right" they have lost. Not one. My life has not been affected one iota by the election of Barack Obama, with the exception that my taxes went down slightly. All the shrill hysteria on the far right has done nothing but harm the once-noble Republican Party. They have gone out of their way to eject moderates from the GOP and have embraced extremism, some even calling for a violent coup against a duly elected president. This kind of rhetoric only pushes away potential voters, especially when they see good news about the economy in the papers.

What rights are we losing? We lost many rights under the previous administration, but I can't think of anything we have lost under the current one. help me out. - I remember liberals being told to leave the country if they didn't like the way it was being run, but now the conservatives are the ones complaining. Funny how it is when the shoe is on the other foot.
