  • No, it will not become obsolete but it will become more and more expensive. Some things must be mailed. Much of what the Postal Service does is not delivering letters. I use the mail a lot both for personal stuff as well as for business.
  • I don't think so. Business letters look more formal in real, honest-to-God paper, so as long as big dollar transaction companies want to look more credible on the cheap, real mail with always be with us. (The bank knows it looks like it wants your money more if they send you that professional loan statement.)
  • I really think so. At least parts of it. We still want packages sent and important letters signed, and it is a bit cheaper than a private postal service. I think if the mail was delivered M-F, it could be cheaper for all of us. However, then people would have to become rational and not greedy. Ah, asking too much. +5
  • I think before a decision could be rendered appropriately, we would need to know the ratio of: personal mail governemnt mail bulk rate mail I know everyone at the capital gets to sign their name to blanket their district with paper and the majority of what I get at home is junk/bulk rate. Maybe politicians should pay for thier mailings out of leftover campaign funds which will add to the USPS coffers. Raising the bulk rate would not hurt, either.
