Most people's seating position in a car reflect their level of confidence when driving. Learner drivers tend to sit too much forward because they feel the are better in control of the vehicle.
Given the impatience on the road, the brash reactions of SUV's and so on, yes, women may tend to sit a little closer.
It is good to note that seating is not a women-thing, but rather a confidence-thing, though.
