  • From what I've been able to find on the Internet, P1506 indicates that the engine is idling too fast and that the device that controls the idle speed (called the...wait for it...Idle Air Controller (IAC)) cannot bring the idle speed down. The most common reason for this is that excess air is getting into the engine (commonly called a 'vacuum leak'). It could also indicate a failure of the IAC itself, or that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system is malfunctioning. Take it to a competent mechanic and get it diagnosed. You'll save money in the long run. Good luck.
