Isn't that a bit like saying that an alcoholic could drink himself sober? No, I don't think it's possible.

Well no because that literally IS the definition of histrionic personality disorder. They can NEVER have enough attention and will do whatever they can to get it. Most people will create an unnecessary situation or simply just lie about something that has happened to them. I watched a segment on television about a woman who craved attention from her friends constantly so she would lie about, say for example, her results at the doctor's office. When everything was fine she would say that they found cancer cells or something. People with histrionic personality disorder like others to worry or feel sorry for them as well. It comes with the territory. When someone else is having their moment, perhaps it's their birthday or graduation or anniversary, someone with this disorder usually finds ways to snatch the attention away from them. If you have any other questions you can ask me because I happen to know a lot about it. I have a friend with this disorder and it drives everyone nuts, but she is coming to terms with it and seeking help because at one point it did get a little out of control. +5
