As long as YOU live in your mother's home, and SHE pays all of your expenses like rent/mortgage, Utilities, phone bills, clothes, food etc .... and you are NOT 18 ; YOU will be going to the hairdresser ...

What's wrong with going to the hair-dresser?!? If she pays for it, heck yeah, enjoy it for as long as you can! As long as she doesn't tell you what hair-cut to get of course ;) Besides that, of course you have a right to tell her. Don't be disrespectful, but kindly raise the question why it is necessary to go every two weeks. Does your hair really grow that fast?

Yeah, it sounds like a bummer, but from I'm sittin', I'd pick a better 'battle'. Dig? ;-)

It doesn't sound like it would do you any good if you did tell her since you say she controls it even so far as to decide how it should be cut. I suggest the subversive route. Wait till she is otherwise occupied and tell the stylist you are going for a grunge look and want a Mohawk. One look at that and you mother will probably yield her insistence on you going every two weeks. At least until the sides grow back.

well technically you are underage and you live under their roof. Not to sound like a parent, but it's their house and their rules and there's nothing abusive about making you go to the hairdresser with her. But, maybe if you want to prove you are an adult to her, instead of throwing a fit or refusing to go, maybe you could just calmly, rationally explain to her that you would prefer not to go (for whatever reasons) and ask if you may go every other time or something. Meet her in the middle and use some tact to negotiate with her. but seriously, you guys have ipods and iphones and all these gadgets and stuff I didn't have when I was 16...how hard is it really to kill an hour or so when you can watch movies, play games, txt, talk, listen to music, surf the web? All I had when I was your age to entertain myself with when stuck at family outings was a stupid pacman watch...
