  • A manager has official or line authority. That is authority conferred by his/her position. A leader may be a manager but also could be someone who has no formal authority but is charismatic enough that people will follow him/her. In other words, if I am a manager, you do what I tell you because you have to. If I am a leader, you do what I tell you because you want to.

  • let us know the context at which you are looking at, there are huge differences between a leader and a manager, they are behavioral in nature. All leaders are good managers but all managers are not leaders.
