Lock themselves away where no one can find them?
I live in australia, so our laws are slightly different, but your best bet is to seek what we call an apprehended violence order (or avo) on the person in issue. If you can, i would suggest trying to get down to your local free legal aid service to talk to them. Also, police can put one of these in force, you dont need a lawyer, so talking to them is always a good bet. If your are worried because you are in a domestic relationship with the person in question, i would suggest 'googling' some hotlines for numbers that you could call - do it from a pay phone if your worried about it showing up on your phone bill - and try and talk to some womens shelters, or get in contact with some relatives. There is help out there.. you dont need to out up with this.
