  • Neither. It's just the date the Mayan calendar starts a new cycle. Some people have said the calendar is "running out" or "getting to the end." That's true, but our calendar runs out every December 31, and the world continues the next day. The Mayan calendar is more interesting because it has a long cycle before repeating - roughly 5,125 years. Since that's a large chunk of human history (and nearly ALL human history if you take the Bible literally), some people say that reaching the end of the cycle is meaningful. But why it's more meaningful than Dec. 31 of any year is just hype.
  • The same thing will happen on 12/21/12 as happened when the year 2000 arrived, which is nothing.
  • depends on whos right the ancient civilizations or my common sense....
  • Neither. It will be the same as it was on Dec 20th 2012, except the newspaper headlines will read "Didn't Happen" on the 21st.
