What is the best way to get back (or close) to my natural medium auburn hair? (I currently have black hair with a few bright orange pieces in it. Before my hair was black, it had been blonde. If it helps, I only have ever had my hair dyed at a salon.)

I think the best way to do that would be to let it grow out enough for the stylist to see your color and tell her/him that, that's the color you want and ask if it's possible for them to get it to that color before you do anything.

I think there are 2 options: Wait till it grows out (but with this option your hair might not look too good while doing so, the difference in colours) or you could go to your salon and let them strip the current colour of cause its darker than you mornal colour, and then colour it again to the nearest to your natural colour.
