  • Nothing interesting in a library book. However, years ago my s.o. and I were traveling in the Lake District in England. To get automatic steering, we had to rent a car that was awfully BIG for the small narrow roads. Maybe a Rover? I can't remember. Anyway, the morning after a great evening in the pub, we found a hand-written note on our windshield (okay, windscreen). It said, "Why did you buy this tin can? Call Thomas. He likes cream biscuits with sardines." That qualifies as the most cryptic message we've ever received, from any source.
  • Mostly just someone's notes, math calcs and foul words. Nothing exciting!
  • In all of the fiction books in Richland County Public Library(Columbia SC) published before 1979 There are three very small vertical lines under the first letter of the author's last name, written in pencil, on the title page. What does this mean? Is it true in other libraries? The librarians here have no clue!
