    Oh i don't know it really depends upon how much he loves you as to whether he could 'forgive' you, i know you'd split up and the other guy was only a rebound, but if you still had feelings for your ex he may see that as you having cheated. All you can do is lay your cards on the table and have a good long discussion about where to go from here. You may find that the time apart has allowed him to reflect on your relationship and he may be eager to continue with it. Good luck :)
