Why does it feel like my fast food options are limited?

Because you are an American, and the idea of cooking your own food gives you a complex. No offence.

Maybe because we are all trying to eat a bit healthier and we are becoming more aware of what we have been eating. It's very hard for me to even consider eating a burger and fries.

I am not sure why, i think there is fast food for damm near any category of food you can think of.

Because the "Mega" franchise places are weeding out the small Mom & Pop places. Cheap is NOT better, but when you have 2-4 kids and you want some burgers, do you $1 menu it or hit a place where the cheapest burger (Though quite excellent) is $6? Cheap wins, because the average consumer has been led to believe that this is "Acceptable" and disregards quality over quanity.
