Very good question, and I'd hire you on the spot with an attitute like that. I'm going to be in and out of this answer with links to sites I think might benifit your quest to learn..without consuming too much research time...I'll be back.. http://www.intel.com/consumer/index.htm Here's the first place to go. The meat of what's new in processors, and technologies that are up and coming...there are so many different computer manufactureres, but remmeber, there is only two company's that make computer processors and chipsets that run them. Once you know a little about the two complanies and thier products, you'll be able to apply that knowledge to the many different computer manufactured models that house them, and decide for youself what would be best for your customer. Hold on,,, here's the second place to go. http://www.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDHomePage.aspx This processor manufacturer is intels only competetor, so with only two in competition, it's worht knowing them both, even if everyone likes one as a general rule more than the other one. (intel at the moment is favored over AMD at the moment, but it's interesting to see the two's histey and approches to design in a computing chip..... once you get a general idea about the pricing and progress of computers and technonolgy up to date, remember to notice some of the other hardware the computer manufactureres pick to put in ther desktops or laptops. Video cards, sound cards that type thing. Never too much memory in laptop or desktop...and never too many cores...all with the custermers price range and computing needs in mind when suggesting one. Ask what they will be using it for, then supply the best most cost effective system that has the proper hardware to meed their demands. Music and video buffs need computers with large memory and large hard drives. Processor speed isn't as critical with this application demands if the memory is ample, and the hard drive is large enugh. I'lll be back...
