  • Here is one for gin using lemons & oranges.... Jeddah Gin 12 oranges 12 lemons 3kg potatoes 5kg sugar 10 litres water 1 tsp. yeast Wash and slice fruit and vegetable leaving skins on. Dissolve the sugar in some of the water and add to fruit. Add remainder of water and yeast. Leave for 7 days stirring occasionally. Leave to settle for 3 days. Remove solids and leave 2 more days. Rack until clear then bottle. For greater alcohol content, try freeze distillation. Here is another one... for fruit Brandy.... Fruit Brandy This takes 28 days to complete and then another 2 weeks to let it clear with an air lock. Then you can rack it more for clarity til you want to bottle it up . The recipe calls for 10 lbs. of fruit or grapes, and 10 lbs. of sugar, two sliced lemons one pkg. wine yeast, and 3 gallons of water, and 2- 1lb. boxes of golden raisins. put all ingredients into a primary container,(except the raisins) and stir daily for 7 days, then you add the raisins and DO NOT stir for 21 days. Then strain off the pulp and then put the juice in a secondary glass jug with an airlock. The best I've made is Elderberry and grape, but have made blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, and cherry. This is about 22% alcohol and is very good to have on hand on cold nights of fall and winter especially Holidays and birthdays Good luck and have fun!
