  • We need major spending reforms in ALL government programs, not just medicare. And your comment "which no one believes is possible" is your opinion, I know plenty of people who CORRECTLY believe it CAN BE done.
  • "No one", since when did I give you permission to speak for me? Their working things out, nothing is set in stone, lets wait and see.
  • Easily. Health care reform, if done right, will save the economy money overall. Businesses will no longer have to waste money dealing with a problem society could deal with more efficiently.
  • $900 billion in 10 years is only $90 billion a year. we pay HMOs and health insurance companies $17 billion a year for Medicare Advantage before we even begin paying them for health care - that'll save $170 billion. fraud is $10 billion a year so that's $100 billion. allowing medicare to negotiate drug prices like other capitalistic nations do would, even if we only spend 150% more than other nations on drugs, save $50 billion a year or $500 billion over the 10. that's $770 billion. if it weren't 1 AM, i'd be able to identify the needed $130 billion. i agree with you. cutting medicaid any more is like cutting off your head to save blood.
  • last night i got us up to $770 billion savings over 10 years. if medicaid (which costs 8%) to administer were simplified into one single operating system and it would cost the same as medicare (3%) we'd save $18.75 billion a year or $187.5 over 10 years. that totals $957.5 billion. not really done, but, for my answer now yes!!!
  • The last figure I heard were trillions (over how much time I don't remember)
