Through observation and experimentation over hundreds of years, the theory of evolution has been developed and refined - and does an excellent job of explaining how living things came to be as they are at present - level of complexity included. Physics, cosmology, geogology and astronomy provide a great deal of information about how the universe came to be as it is at present. The start is still being figured out, sure - but just because we don't know NOW doesn't mean we can never know EVER.

Take snowflakes. If you examine them under a microscopy they're incredibly detailed - yet that doesn't mean there are invisible fairy creatures in the clouds snipping them out of ice sheets with tiny silver scissors right? The world is what was naturally formed when molten matter collected under the force of its own gravity, forming a sphere, then solidified. Our own body on the other hand used the processes of evolution, or survival of the fittest by natural selection. Over millions of years different forms of life developed in different forms to better survive and produce offspring.

Well, there's definitely more than a few ideas I could come up with to explain everything. So I will only touch on a few off the top of my head. When you really think about it, we might be complex but that is actually relative. By what standard do we have other than our own scientific data and discoveries to set any standard to what is "perfect" or complex? When you think about how complex everything is you also start to see it is flawed, and far from perfect. So in a flawed universe, with a planet full of imperfect beings who became self aware it's not inconceivable to think that yes, it was all a random fluke, mere chance led to all of this being created. IT could have gone a million other ways, the universe may have ended, we might not have ever come into existence, no life at all might have ever come..but it did and by mere chance we came along..flawed little beings in a big universe we don't understand that is slowly winding down to an inevitable end. OF course we are but little specks of a few atoms and some electricity in this big giant universe (or Metaverse?) so we really have no concept of our universe or ourselves..we've barely scratched the surface. So for many, the idea of a god offers them an answer and some solace. As for myself, there's a million different things that could be the answer to "who created it all" just as likely or reasonable as gods. We can't even understand if we are even real or if this is a dream or a holographic universe or just a soap bubble...and we claim to know and understand gods...

Umm so if you lack the knowledge to explain how something happened it's okay to say, "God did it!"

I believe in God, no matter what God may be, wether God is the atoms that bind us together or if there is a higher power there some where. I believe, but God as in the Bibical God, that is just fairy tails, as much as I hate to say it. I get DR'ed by relegious people ever day for pointing out the obvious, but yet I do not DR them for their beliefs. But if you do not say what someone wants to hear, especially very judgemental relegious people, they DR you. We live in such a complex world, every bit as complex as our atoms, every bit as complex as the universe, I think it is a wonderful world, and as much as I wish it was perfect, it is not. I love life and I live it to the fullest, I do no stress where I came from or why, I live and I will die (I will die for my own sins might I add). I do my best as much as I can and try to help people, but that is as far as it goes. No one will understand why the world was made or when, as much as we might try to guess, those are only theorys. Learn to love life, not question it and you will be a better person in my book.

Mother Nature has over 3 billion years of evolutionary experience to know how to do things.

I don't believe in god because we need not evoke a deity. Simply because we cannot explain something does not make it unexplainable. Having said that... The Big Bang Theory, Abiogenesis, Evolution by Natural Selection. (edited for spelling)

I catch your drift. the very fact that we cant explain it makes us think it was evolutionary. no one will believe an intangible answer. all the books that talk about creation offer a different viewpoint. if creation by design with a designer happened, why isnt it park of our dna structure. why are we left with the word GOD to explain the maker when we have no idea what we are talking about.

Laws of physics and theory of evolution.

Not just the complexity but also the symbiosis. There is no evidence for the universe being created by an unintelligent force or process.

I do not believe in `god` because to me it is really unlikely that a `god` just made all these complex beings. First of all would that make `god` like super-complex. And who made him then? Second of all it is way more logic to think that all those complicated functions arose from a whole lot of simple functions instead of `just being there, all of a sudden` And my question back for you: if `god` made something this complex, how complex will he be and who made him?

Thank you all for answering. I am now able to award 6 points for answers so I went back and upped all your points. I gave each of you 6 for your thoughtful answers. I don't necessarily agree with them all but you took the time to think about and answer my question and this, I appreciate. Many of you have given me things to think about. Good day to all!

The natural tendency of things to get more complex while energy flows, and enormous amounts of time and space.

If you DO believe in God, how do you explain an invisible, all-knowing, all-seeing, benevolent, loving, just creator, that allows disasters to happen that have nothing to do with human intervention? And do so without the Bible, which was written by man, after the death of Jesus, contains many inaccuracies, many variations, and is subjective in the extreme?

With physics and evolution. +5

'Big Bang' followed by evolution explain both, the vastnes of the universe and complexity of life on earth. It makes logical sense. ...takes some studious understanding, though. * And evolution also explains how DNA got itself together the first time. It was 'the first step' of bio-evolution. ... and it was a long long long time ago. ;-)))

Assuming that we just popped into being fully formed I'd say there must be an intelligence at work. However we can show that life started at the microscopic level and adapted outwards. Take my favorite example the human eye. Seems relatively difficult to call it random doesn't it? So let's just call it intelligent design. My question to you is, if it was designed by a creator why is it the image is recorded upside down and backwards? Why must our brains turn and flip every image? Why do we have a blind spot? Why if we're the predominant species are our eyes not as good as the osprey's? Why isn't our hearing better than a bats? Why isn't our night vision better than cats? Why isn't our smell better than dogs? No, when you think about it, there's no obvious design in our makeup. Nature has Macgyvered us together with random elements, and we've made the best use of them.
