I made her a cake bought her some flowers couple of balloons and a pair of earings she loves earings!

Nothing. She was in a nursing home and died less than a month later.

Forgot, but the other half didn't and since I was in a bitch of a mood that day I said "and that's from us" when she gave her present.... she didn't speak to me for a couple of days but laughed if off after it.
