  • For a good resource on backing up read the TidBits .pdf book http://www.takecontrolbooks.com/backup-macosx for a details on how Time Machine works read http://db.tidbits.com/article/9673 But briefly you don't have manual control, If the hard disk that is used with Time Machine is full it asks before it deletes and then it delets the oldest first. It is one of the best for lost files and folders going way back but it is not the same as a bootable full backup drive that can restore everything. I use SuperDuper! for cloning my drive about Once/mo and Time Machine for more recent changes.
