Humans knew how to reproduce well before we knew about things like fire or how to talk, read or write. We knew how to reproduce well before we had evolved limbs. We are, after all, the result of approximately 3.9 billion years of successful reproduction. Reproduction is inarguably the most adaptive of all behaviors. Sans reproduction we would never have existed.
