  • Is the wife represented by an attorney.
  • A divorce attorney charges for even their own thoughts. What you've described, I also objected to because one of my exes loved using the court system and would bring up irrelevant issues to raise fees and have contact with me. My attorney said she had to charge for every question he asked and for my answers. I told her that I wouldn't be answering anything in the future, so she could forget that. She also charged me $500 for a letter she wrote (time and staff) and I wouldn't pay for it. I presented her to the State Board and nothing was done. I hope someone comes up with something more substantial than I had to endure. +5
  • Yes. A lawyer is paid for his or her time handling your matter. If you are being charged by the hour, then you will be billed for that time. You do not have to pay your lawyer by the hour. There are many billing arrangements you can negotiate. For example, you can negotiate a flat fee or a block rate for each segment of litigation.
  • If the wife has declared herself Propria Persona.
  • Unfortunately, yes. I was told by my crooked a&& lawyer, that he could charge me for talking to ANYBODY about my case...even if the person who we were suing's mother walked in off the street and started talking to him about my case, he could charge me. That's some B.S.!
