unless you smell gas strong when you do that i'd start by seeing how much exhaust you have coming from the tail pipe if normal then change the filter, esp. if it's been a long time since you changed it. if that still doesn't help could be a problem with the fuel pump, throtle position sensor, throtle body itself, or the fuel module. is the check eng. ligh on? or blinking?

Bogging on acceleration is usually a symptom of the ignition system not working properly. How are your plugs, plug wires, distributor cap & rotor, coil, etc.? If those are all OK, then the next likely candidate is a sensor. If the throttle position sensor has a glitch in it, that can confuse the engine control computer. Other sensors can produce similar problems. Good luck

Most likely the Fuel filter or Fuel pump. We actually just had a car come in, a Pontiac bonneville( V8 ) to be exact with that same problem. Turned out to be the oil pump.
