Has anyone used the DVD Red, Red Pro or Grex (or other similar product) to manipulate a DVD Recorder? Does it work?

The products I am asking about are made by DiMax and can be found at http://www.xdimax.com or http://www.xdimax.com/common/products.html. I don't think they are illegal as I have also seen them in-store at Best Buy.
