My observation is that being needed by others is the greatest factor in a long life. Those who have others who need them seem to feel they have to keep on living. Also having something worthwhile that you are working on seems to make a huge difference. People who feel unneeded and unnecessary seem to become self-destructive.

Plenty of fresh, clean water, for starters. Water is the most important thing that we consume on a daily basis, for many different reasons. After that, a healthy balance of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean meats, wholegrains, and dairy products. Fruit and leafy green vegetables are important factors in our overall health as they supply us with many of the nutrients and vitamins that we need, and can also assist in keeping our digestive system regulated. Lean red meat is an excellent source of iron, as are leafy green vegetables such as spinach. Dairy is important so that we (especially women) intake enough calcium to keep our bones and teeth strong. Regular exercise is also crucially important, and a step that many people miss. Exercise can help with increasing or stabilizing our metabolism, keeps our muscles and bones strong and in good condition, reduces fat and improves our overall appearance. Getting enough sleep is also important. Our bodies need rest so that we have the energy to go on with our daily lives, but sleep is also important as this is when our bodies shut down and recharge, and also when our body fights its hardest against illnesses and infection. Lastly, finding meaning in life, other people, and day to day activities helps with our mental health. Trying to maintain a positive attitude and disposition does wonders for our self esteem and general outlook.
