There was one novel "The balance " by vikram was sad and it touched my heart.

few novels of nicholas sparks e.g. the notebook, dear john, the wedding, the rescue

I don't usually cry anymore while reading (I did as a child) but in the last year I cried after reading Silence by Shusaku Endo. And I mean plenty of tears were involved.
