  • I never tried it when I was at Uni, but I suspect that you would not be getting any extra points for it - as you need to try a bit harder to get references than using Wikipedia. Using peer-reviewed journals or textbooks are a much better source - and if you are using web-sites, then you need to find ones (such as government sites) that are not compromised by bias, or commercial intent. It is not really that hard to find references, so long as you do not leave your research to the last minute. You are correct about Wikipedia being not as reliable a reference as it is open to vandalism at any time (and vandalised pages can take a while to be fixed).
  • No, my professors don't really seem to care as long as you cite it correctly and did the research.
  • Yes. It is still considered plagerizing since the teacher has no evidence that you wrote it yourself.
  • Seems some people missunderstand it, it had nothing to do with plagerism, but the fact that it is not a valid source, so if it was just one of 20 and cited correctly, they would still penelize you for using it becaues wikipedia is not a reliable source, I had a teacher who would give automatic F's on a paper if he saw wikipedia anywhere in the bibliography.
