  • No it doesn't. The links itself gives the translation of their chant as "It can be done", not "Yes we can". Furthermore - Those are both easily duplicable phrases, using extremely common words. If the quote was something like "Yes we can because we have the will and the opportunity - all we have to do is effectively mobilize", and you found a copy of that quote from a different country, that would definitely be suspect. But a tiny phrase like "Yes we can" is hardly unique.
  • I thought it came from Bob the Builder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_the_Builder Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised if you found the phrase in Chaucer, Shakespeare or similar. I don't think Obama ever claimed it was original, only that it is the idea he wanted to present.
  • You... you mean... FOREIGNERS???? AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Oh My God! You mean someone said "yes we can" before? Frankly I am shocked just shocked! La La La
  • "Yes, we can" is also a saying the school that I worked for had. The kids were working hard on passing state mandated tests. So during their pep rallies, they would shout, "Yes, we can!" So I think it's a pretty common saying people can pick up in any country. It's catchy, short, and to the point.
  • LOL Words are words, no one owns them!
  • wouldn't that be "Mex-I-can" then??
