Getting subs and amp for my car, getting speaker wire, is there a difference between 10 AWG, 12 AWG, 14 AWG, 16 AWG, etc...?

    In my experience, using speaker wire larger than 14 AWG is a waste.

    On the other hand, I've never wired up a big thumping subwoofer, nor do I play my music that loud.

    From the AWG specification chart, it seems 10 AWG would be big enough to handle almost anything you have planned.

    Also, given the relatively short runs you'll be using, the cost difference should not be that great between 10 gauge and 14 gauge.
