  • I think you might be able to file down two sides of it flat so that you can get a wrench on it.
  • Here are a couple of things you can try: 1) Get a GatorGrip socket and try that. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/gator-grip-self-adjusting-universal-socket-set/37328 2) Buy a cheap combination wrench that is one size too small for the drain plug. (e.g. if it's 17mm, buy a 16mm wrench). Place the box end of the combination wrench over the plug and HAMMER it on to the plug. Either way, buy a new drain plug, take the old plug your receipts back to Jiffy Lube, and demand that they pay you back for what it cost you.
  • Take it back to Jiffy Lube and make them remove it or loosen it for you ... +5
  • You were probably using a 12-point socket/wrench (look inside the socket and there will be 12 points). When it starts slipping off the bolt you should grab a 6-point socket/wrench. It helps to grip the bolt better since it fits the bolt exactly. Try using a 6-point socket first, you may have to tap it a bit with a hammer. If the socket won't fit back on so the only advice I can give is to go to Sears and grab a set of bolt extractors. They're a nifty tool. It's like a socket but it has a reverse thread inside that grabs onto the bolt. Usually you'll have to hammer it on but it will get your drain plug out guaranteed. Good luck and try to see if Jiffy Lube will reimburse you for a new drain plug.
