The temperature mark on my car temp guage is pointing near the hot area, however I dont see any indication under the hood it is getting hot. What should I do?

Install a new thermostat. They are pretty cheap. If you can't do it, maybe a friend. A mechanic will be the most costly but still shouldn't be that much. If your car engine is getting hot the thermostat is beginning to fail. The thermostat controls engine temperature. If it does fail your car engine will overheat. Ever see a car on the side of the rode with steam coming from under the hood?
