Check the amount of milk fat in the milk- if it's equal to or the same as 3.25~4% you're fine. I'm assuming that you're choosing vitamin D milk as a substitute for whole milk. Considering your children are at the age of 4 a few more calories isn't totally unwanted. After a few years you can switch to 2% milk.

I am assuming he eats other foods. You don't mean he just drinks milk and nothing else. That is only healthy if he was a calf. Have you tried soy milk? That even comes in flavors. Drinking whole milk is only unhealthy for a 4 year old if he has a weight problem. The bad thing is it is not a great option for an adult and the eating habits we build as a child tend to stay with us as adults.Try weening him to a lower fat milk by cutting the whole milk with 2 % (50/50) . I doubt he will notice the change. Then gradually add more 2% milk in with the whole milk.+5

I don't think so because our bodies are mostly made of water...so I like some good water to also be drank and also pure unsweetened juices too.... I used to make my own juice when I had little ones....Carrot/Apple was a big favorite with lots of ice!
