  • I would probably laugh and say something like, "What's a "savant?"
  • a compliment, a stange one though
  • both. :-)
  • I would take it as literally oxymoronic. If it were true I would most likley not know what it means so it would be neither and insult or a compliment. But in context most people who are 'idiot savants' are only learned in a specfic area, be it math, music, or another area that normally requires much study to be kowledgeable in. Yet, they, without any training are full of information, yet unable to do everyday mundane tasks.
  • I am only considered 'slow' by those born to hyper-speed...
  • I wouldn't mind as long as I could watch "Judge Whapner " at 3PM sharp.(Rainman)
  • I am known as the Idiot Savant in certain circles and my GF regularly uses it when introducing me.....I can handle it.
  • lol....i'd say 'thats Aspburger to you'
  • It's obviously an insult. The term refers to a person who is mentally deficient, but has one or more extra-ordinary skill. Such as a mentally retarded man who can tell you instantly what day of the week any specific date fell on, or an autistic woman who can remember every word from every page she ever read and repeat it back to you word for word... with no understanding of the content. So by using this description, the person is saying you are abnormal but with a special skill. Quite an insult in my book. It would be a compliment if they called you a savant. Drop the word idiot and you change the entire meaning.
  • Well I really don't know what a savant is but I know what an idiot is so I would take it as an insult!! That is one of those what did u just call me moments!!
