  • I agree.I'm an emotional retard,for real. +5
  • Oh yes. The most successful people I've known (managers, colleagues, friends, relatives, acquaintances) have been people who are good at understanding and managing their emotional reactions to people and events. Everybody has emotions but it's the way you deal with them that makes all the difference. Understanding that emotion is a temporary and often ill-informed and unhelpful sensation is important. Some people seem to be 'naturals' but it is something that can be learned. In high-stress, dangerous professions (like pilots) it is an important job requirement. Emotional Intelligence is a good way of describing it but I think it's the same quality that used to be called maturity.
  • If that's as far as it goes, then yes....I agree, but it doesn't go far enough. EQ when it comes to others is equally as important, I think. If you can't read what a person needs, then your success rate will suffer significantly. Other than that, it's a great quote! +5
  • Maybe I do! I work on the phone alot. I can use the identical words in two diff calls but the result can be completely different , depending on my tone/delivery. I know it's more important to be liked than it is to be right.
