  • you can hide anywhere but a fridge would suffocate ya. +5
  • no. i dont even think you could survive int a bomb shelter if it's radiation. that radiation will cook you like your in a microwave.
  • You can absolutely hide in a fridge. But unless that fridge is layered in several sheets of lead, I wouldn't think it would be much safer than hiding in a potted plant.
  • Sure it's possible. You won't live, but you could totally hide in it.
  • If you notice in that scene from Indie 4 the Fridge was lead lined but something that blows a house to kindling would destroy a refrigerator.
  • Of course you can. That way all they have to do is put you in the ground, fridge and all. :-)
  • you will suffocate
  • You can hide anywhere, but it doesn't mean that the fridge is not going to explode on you.
  • haha. I forget which movie It is that very thing happens and in Hollywood fashion the fridge is thrown hundreds of feet and the thing crashes down and the door flops open and the guy is perfectly fine. I am no scientist but I say impossible to survive for several reasons I find plausible. A radioactive blast would possibly; melt the fridge or heat it up so much that you would still burn up, die of heat exposure, asphyxiation, heat stroke etc. The blasts are hot enough to melt steel, burn people to cinder, melt glass but even if it didn't melt the whole fridge, all it has to do is get very hot to cook you alive. Not to mention you are in a very limited oxygen container. Secondly. Most times when you see this happening in films or stories, it's not a modern day fridge. It's more like a meat cooler or some old solid steel design fridge with a locking latch. Regardless either way, there's a good chance the pressure from the explosion would blast the door off if it's an old style fridge (the fridge is steel but the latches, and hinges are not so durable). If it is a modern fridge, well you are pretty much screwed, a magnet and your grip on it, will not keep it from flying open and you then exposed to whatever radioactive form of death that awaits. Lastly, none of that other stuff will matter anyways because even if you don't flambe or fly out of the fridge, even if the hinges and locks keep you securely inside, the forces of gravity, the G's that you would be exposed to, from the explosion and then the impact of the landing (or multiple impacts) would turn you into meat pudding.. But IF you managed to survive all of that, well you can't stay in an (semi) airtight fridge for long, and if you exit the fridge then more than likely fire, destruction, radiation, etc. is gonna kill you.
  • You can hide in a fridge if you want, it isnt going to help. :-)
  • When I was in school we were taught that all you needed to do was crawl under your desk,,you mean that doesn't work?
  • if it's in bin laden's cave
  • old friges are lined with lead so that would help agaisnt radiation, and they are very solidly built so you might suvive the blast, however, if you underneath the blast, the no. you would be turned to dust :P
  • About as plausible as eluding many dangerous situations including man-eating giant ants, a dominatrix-like nazi villain and her minions in order to discover an enormous UFO and aliens lying underneath the ruins of an ancient civilization : )
